Microsoft, Apple working to fix Hotmail for the iPad

If you've tried to access Hotmail on your spankin' new Apple iPad, you may have hit some snags. For a month or so, users have been complaining that the full version of Microsoft's Hotmail.com is causing iPads to freeze.

So, Microsoft is working with Apple to fix the problem. But they have to identify it first.

From a company blog post by Mike Schackwitz, program manager for the Windows Live Hotmail team:

Unfortunately, we've seen some issues with using Hotmail on the new Apple iPad. Specifically, composing and replying to an email is not working for some of our users.

Rest assured that we're working with Apple to understand the issues, and we'll fix them as quickly as possible. In the meantime, we have directed all iPad traffic to our mobile Hotmail website. Alternatively, you can set up the iPad email client to use POP to download your Hotmail.

In somewhat related news, Microsoft is poised to announce a major update to Hotmail this week. Stay tuned to The Microsoft Blog tonight (hint, hint) for more information.
