Businesses can get Office 2010 on May 12

Consumers won't be getting Office 2010 until June. But enterprise customers will be able to purchase the next version of Microsoft's productivity suite on May 12.

Also available on May 12 will be SharePoint, 2010 Visio 2010 and Project 2010, according to a post Thursday on Microsoft's Office 2010 blog. Jevon Fark, senior marketing manager for Office, said the suite will be released to manufacturers next month.

He also announced that the Office 2010 Technology Guarantee – which Microsoft mistakenly posted, then pulled, one month ago – has now started. It allows businesses to buy copies of Office 2007 now, then upgrade to 2010 for free.

More information on the tech guarantee is available here.
