New Hotmail rollout complete, now available to all 350 million users

Microsoft has today confirmed that the rollout of the latest edition of their free email messaging platform, Hotmail, is now complete.

The upgrade, which began on the 15th of June, was progressively rolled out across the world as Microsoft began "upgrading server clusters, building the new indexes for conversation threading, and making tweaks to site metrics and deployment software."

Last Tuesday the team confirmed the roll-out was picking up speed, this morning confirming every single Hotmail user of the more than 350 million now have the upgraded app with features including enhanced security, better filtering of emails to de-clutter the inbox, support for conversation views and a number of other key visual and feature additions.

"Here at Hotmail, we’ve had quite a busy week! All of our customers are now upgraded," Microsoft's Mike Schackwitz declared.

"The majority of you [Hotmail users] got the new Hotmail just this past week, as we completed the rollout to over 350 million people in more than 220 countries around the world."

Microsoft says that the rollout has been one of the "smoothest" and biggest upgrades Hotmail has ever experienced, with the team encouraging users to submit their feedback on the new-look via their support forums or clicking the "feedback" link inside of the product. A number of changes have already been made based on customer feedback, Schackwitz said, with the product most likely continuing to be refined and improved over the coming months.
