Bill Gates to back Web education, disease-modeling software

Bill Gates, talking at the first Techonomy Conference on Friday in Lake Tahoe, Calif., said he plans to back the development of software for modeling diseases and the expanded use of the Web for education. "Five years from now on the Web for free you'll be able to find the best lectures in the world," Gates said, as reported by TechCrunch. "It will be better than any single university." And he also said, according to CNET News: "There's no disease-modeling software. There is none. Why is flu seasonal? We don't know." Read more at TechCrunch and CNET, which both had reporters at the conference.
